苹果电脑在今天稍早正式宣布了 Mac OS X 10.4 将会在四月二十九日晚间六点正式上市，在全美的 Apple Store 以及经销商在当天都将会举办上市首卖活动。
与前一代系统相较，Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" 具有超过 200 项的新功能，其中最让人感到期待的功能包括有提供系统层级所档案搜寻功能的 Spotlight 以及运用 HTML 与 Javascript 技术制成，既方便又炫酷的 Dashboard 功能。
在系统硬体的需求方面，Mac OS X 10.4 可以支援具有内建 Firewire 界面，CPU 是 PowerPC G3, G4 以及 G5 的机种，内建至少 256 MB 的记忆体，硬碟至少需要有 2GB 的剩余空间。Mac OS X 10.4 售价为美金 $129.99 元，目前在 Amazon 上订购不但免运费，还可获得 $35 元的折扣，有兴趣的朋友现在就可以前往下单订购。

Built-in FireWire
At least 256MB of physical RAM
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 3.0 GB of available space on your hard drive; 4GB of disk space if you install XCode 2 developer tools
Note: Mac OS X does not support processor upgrade cards. The amount of disk space required depends on your computer and the way you are installing Mac OS X.
